The third day of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka in Galle witnessed plenty of action on the field but it was a light-hearted exchange between commentators Sanjay Manjrekar and Murali Kartik that grabbed attention away from the game.
Both former India cricketers are part of the broadcast team for the ongoing Sri Lanka tour and were discussing the match when the conversation unexpectedly shifted from cricket to personal remarks about appearances.

The exchange began when Murali Kartik jokingly commented on Sanjay Manjrekar’s facial expression, saying that his exaggerated pout (pout of the century) was making it difficult for viewers to understand what he was saying. Kartik humorously requested him to tone it down.
Sanjay Manjrekar responded with a playful counter, suggesting that the camera focus should be shifted to someone else who was more pleasant to look at and interact with. The banter continued as both the commentators exchanged witty remarks about each other’s looks and habits.
As the conversation progressed, Murali Kartik joked about Sanjay Manjrekar’s tendency to admire himself, while Manjrekar responded with another humorous comment about appearances. Murali Kartik then hit back, saying that those who know and have worked with Manjrekar would agree with his observations.

Despite the back-and-forth, Sanjay Manjrekar eventually stepped in to cool things down. He acknowledged that the conversation was beginning to cross the line and warned that social media would quickly seize on the exchange if it continued.
