Indian cricketer Prema Rawat has made headlines with a stunning batting performance that has earned her a place in the record books. The 24-year-old became the world record holder for scoring the fastest half-century in a women’s T20 cricket match on Monday, November 2.

Representing Uttarakhand in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy Elite match against Hyderabad, Prema Rawat scored an unbeaten 50 off just 14 deliveries. The match was played at the MCA Cricket Stadium in Gahunje, Pune.
Prema Rawat is a bowling all-rounder from Uttarakhand and has represented India in seven T20 Internationals so far. She was also part of the Indian team that won the Women’s Asia Cup title in September. During her incredible innings against Hyderabad, Prema smashed three boundaries and six sixes. Her explosive knock helped Uttarakhand reach a massive total of 187 for 2 in their allotted 20 overs.
Before Prema Rawat’s record-breaking effort, the fastest fifty in women’s T20 cricket belonged to England’s Marie Kelly. She had scored a half-century in 15 balls while playing for Warwickshire against Gloucestershire in 2022. The record was later equalled by Laura Harris, who reached her fifty in 15 deliveries while representing Otago against Canterbury in 2025.
In May 2026, Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana also matched the 15-ball record during a match against Zimbabwe in Karachi. However, Fatima continues to hold the record for the fastest half-century in women’s T20 International cricket.
In the list of batters who have scored the fastest fifties in women’s T20Is, Fatima is followed by New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield and India’s Richa Ghosh. All three players reached the milestone in just 18 balls.
Prema Rawat did not limit her contribution to batting. After producing a record-breaking innings, the Indian all-rounder also delivered an impressive performance with the ball. She completed her four-over spell by picking up two wickets while conceding just 12 runs.
With an unbeaten 14-ball fifty and two wickets to her name, Prema Rawat delivered a remarkable all-round performance and created a special moment in women’s domestic cricket.
