There is no denying the fact that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of the most hard-working political leaders but do you know that he is also one of the least wealthy politicians? It’s quite surprising that in a country where politicians own millions, the Prime Minister had just Rs. 4,700 as cash in hand at the finishing of last year, while on 18 August 2014, it was Rs. 38,700.

This was revealed when PMO disclosed the latest details of assets owned by the PM, the total worth of his movable and immovable assets has gone up to Rs 1,41,14,893 from Rs 1,26,12,288 as on March 31, 2015. The increase in his assets may be attributed to the fact that the residential property was bought 13 years back and it is getting continuously appreciated.

Narendra Modi took the charge of PM on May 26, 2014. Modi also doesn’t have any bank account in New Delhi; however, he has bank accounts in Gujarat. What’s more, he doesn’t own any ‘motor vehicles/aircraft/yachts/ships’.

Modi has taken no loan; in terms of jewellery, he has “four pieces of gold rings” which weigh around 45 gms and their value was Rs. 1.19 lakh on 31 March, 2015. However, the worth of these rings was Rs. 1.21 lakh on 18 August, 2014.

PMO has updated the details since 30th January 2016.

When it comes to PM’s investments, his total movable assets are worth Rs. 41.15 lakh which also includes life insurance policies of Rs. 1.99 lakh, NSC of Rs. 5.45 lakh and L&T Infra Bonds (Tax Savings) of Rs. 20,000.

His immovable assets have a one-fourth share in a residential property situated in Gandhinagar. It’s not an “inherited property” and was purchased on 25th Oct, 2002.
