Priyanka Chopra was one of the few chosen Bollywood celebrity nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
She said —
“When Prime Minister asked me to be one of his navratna, I was very excited but I wanted it to be something that gets sustained. I chose this place in Versova where Agneepath shooting took place. I used to see children pay on heaps of garbage and that is their life.”
The actress with a few other locals took up the initiative of cleaning Versova in the Mumbai city.
She said —
I will put my entire resources into cleaning this place up and rehabilitate it for the people who live here and make sure we do as much as we can.
Here is what she said about the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan —
“Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is not just about cleaning the place and saying I am done with my social responsibilities but to change yourself and not just keep your house clean but keep your community and country clean.”
