However, many eyebrows were raised when the news was flashed that Priyanka will be paid Rs. 5 crore for her 5-minute performance at Zee Cine Awards this month.

Priyanka has now responded on this matter and says that such talks are funny as nobody asks questions to those boys who get ridiculous number of zeroes in their pay cheques.

On Tuesday, she was speaking at Penguin Annual Lecture where she said that her dream is not just earning huge amount of money but leaving a legacy. In her words,

“It’s not about whether I want a car or want so many zeroes on my cheque. For me, it has always been bigger than that… There’s a bigger picture.”

When she was asked whether these zeroes matter for her, she said,

“Yes. Because I work very hard for them. And I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, though my parents always gave me one. I always worked very hard to be where I am and I think each one of us deserves to be compensated for it.”

Priyanka who is a part of American TV show “Quantico” said that it makes her feel proud to be the only woman in the top ten but then it also troubles her as to why she is alone when there are so many females in the same industry.

She stated,

“But it was funny because there are so many people who talk about the kind of numbers that I apparently get for certain minutes of my time. The boys are never asked this question. Their zeroes are ridiculous. Have you even seen the zeroes that they get on their cheques? We should be celebrating that at least there’s one girl who has gone out there.”

She further added,

“I am very proud of myself that I have had the ability to work so hard that I can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with my male counterparts in the top 10 of India, but at the same time, there’s a question — Why is there just one of me when there are so many of them in that industry.”

Dressed in a pink jumpsuit, she talked about “PC’s 12 rules of being the best version of yourself” as a part of her motivational speech in Siri Fort Auditorium which was fully packed with audience. She asked the audience to be greedy for ambitions, never to make compromises and never stop before succeeding, etc.

We wish Desi girl luck for her future endeavours.
