The cricket boards of India and Pakistan are already fighting over the venue of the Asia Cup 2023 and now a tweet from a PSL franchise may further deteriorate the situation. The pic was captioned as, “Ye tu ‘Tea is Fantastic’ ho gya.”

This was a direct jibe at India in regard to the incident which took place in 2019 involving wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman. After India destroyed the training camps of mercenaries in Balakot, Pakistan tried to destroy India’s military installations by sending 24 fighter jets but India gave a strong response in air because of which Pakistan had to retreat. The wing commander Abhinandan who was flying MiG-21 Bison shot down Pakistani F-16 but he was also got shot down by a Pakistani aircraft and after ejecting, he fell on the other side of the Line of Control.

Abhinandan Varthaman was arrested by the Pakistani authorities, though they released the Indian officer soon citing that they want to promote peace but as per some reports, the Indian government had issued stern warning to the Pakistani government that they would face dire consequences if Abhinandan was not returned soon or anything happened to him.

After Abhinandan’s release, a video was shared by the Pakistani government in which the Indian wing commander was seen thanking Pakistani authorities for the tea and said ‘tea is fantastic’. The Indian social media users didn’t take this tweet lightly and gave kickass response by reminding Pakistanis that their government appealed to them to reduce their tea intake as tea is also imported in Pakistan by taking loan. Some Indian social media users also talked about Virat Kohli’s innings at MCG and here are some selected reactions:

As far as the Asia Cup 2023 is concerned, the hosting rights may have been with Pakistan but India has refused to visit Pakistan for playing in the tournament and has demanded that the venue should be shifted to either UAE or Sri Lanka. No final decision was taken in this regard in the last meeting of the Asian Cricket Council which took place in Bahrain and now everything depends on the meeting which will take place in March.

The tweet was certainly in a bad taste but got a mouth-shutting response, what do you say?
