The Kiwi cricketer Rachin Ravindra is certainly the man of the moment as everybody is excited to know more and more about him after his superb performance against England in the opening match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Rachin Ravindra was the Player of the Match as he scored 123 runs not out for which he played only 96 balls and his innings included 11 fours and 5 sixes plus he also took 1 wicket.
Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway (152 runs not out, 121 balls, 19 fours & 3 sixes) ensured that their team successfully chased the target of 283 and went home as the winner.
There is an interesting story behind Rachin’s name as it is the combination of two former Indian legendary cricketers. The parents of Rachin are Indians and they are huge fans of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid so they named their son after them (Ra from Rahul + Chin from Sachin).
When the Indian head coach Rahul Dravid was asked about Rachin Ravindra and the story behind his name, Dravid stated in a funny manner that Rachin hit 5 sixes so it seems that there is more chin to it than anything else. He said that he can’t hit the ball off the square and maybe it is Sachin that helped him in doing that.
Earlier, Rachin made headlines when he helped his team in saving a test match against India and now he has made everyone look at him with his superb performance in the ODI World Cup.
The Indian team will start its campaign tomorrow against the Aussies at Chennai and we wish them all the best.
