Rajdeep Sardesai has recently written a blog post entitled “Yes, I am anti-national” which has sparked controversy on Twitter. The alleged blog post focuses on heated debate in addition to physical attack over claims regarding involvement of media and students in ‘anti-national’ acts.
This is what he stated in repudiation to individual’s assault concerning his opinion, “Yes, I am anti-national because I don’t believe in doublespeak on issues of nationalism.” Many controversial problems such as death penalty and beef ban have been raised by the senior journalist.
“When I was first accused of being ‘anti-national’ on social media, I was angry. Now, a few years later, the coarse political discourse, where desh bhakti certificates are being liberally distributed, tempts me to scream: garv se kaho hum desh-drohi hain,” writes Rajdeep in his blog.
The ignited controversy has given rise to hashtag #Iamantinational which is trending top on Twitter and even though few Twitterati seem to get Sardesai right, there are a number of others who have criticized him and asked to leave the nation as soon as possible!
This is how Twitter reacted over it:
And finally, I am proud to be anti national: why? Because I prefer being a patriot to a pseudo patriot! #Iamantinational
