Ramdev’s Patanjali Fined Rs 11 Lakh For Misleading Advertisements! Here’s What Baba Said

A fine of Rs. 11 lakh has been imposed on five production units of Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved, as they have been found guilty by a Haridwar court of “misbranding and putting up misleading advertisements” of their products.

The decision was given by Additional District Magistrate of Haridwar, Lalit Narayan Mishra, and the organization has been directed to pay the fine within a month’s time.

As per the court, Patanjali Ayurved is found guilty of misbranding as the goods are manufactured somewhere else but the company is showing as they are produced in its own units.

In 2012, a case was filed against Baba’s company by District Food Safety Department after samples of besan, honey, salt, mustard oil and pineapple jam produced by Patanjali failed in the quality tests conducted at FSSAI-certified drugs and food testing lab, Rudrapur.

The products violated Food safety and Standard (packaging and labelling) regulation’s section 23.1 along with sections 52 and 53 for misbranding and misleading advertisement respectively of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
