The Indian cricket team may have performed brilliantly in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 as they have managed to remain unbeaten and have reached the finals as well but there is one player who has failed in making any impact despite the fact that hopes were pretty high from this star player.
By now, you must have guessed that we are talking about Virat Kohli, the Indian cricketer who was in sublime form in the IPL 2024 has scored only 75 runs in seven innings in the T20 World Cup 2024 and this is certainly far below the standards of the former Indian skipper.
A lot was expected from Virat Kohli by fans as he was the Orange cap winner for being the highest run-getter of the IPL 2024 and this was also one of the reasons because of which Virat Kohli has been made to open with Rohit Sharma.
In the semi-final match against England, Virat Kohli got out at the score of 9 runs before getting clean bowled by Reece Topley. The former head coach Ravi Shastri opened up on Virat Kohli’s dismissal and his journey in the T20 World Cup; he said that this is not Virat’s game as he is going too early for shots. Shastri said that with Rohit Sharma playing aggressively, Virat Kohli can afford to spend some more time on the crease. As per Shastri, Virat Kohli is an orthodox player but when he will get out of his zone, he will get in out in the manner in which he got out in the match against England.
Ravi Shastri further said that the keyword is rhythm and it is currently missing. He added if the ball is in Virat’s area, he will certainly put that away but here he is trying to manufacture shots which a batter can do if he is in form and has scored 300 runs in the competition but it is difficult to do when the batter is not among the runs.
On the other hand, the Indian head coach Rahul Dravid and the skipper Rohit Sharma are of firm belief that Virat Kohli is saving a big knock for the final.
Our best wishes are with the Indian team, let’s win the T20 World Cup 2024 and end the ICC trophy drought.
