Romario Shepherd produced one of the most breathtaking batting displays of the Caribbean Premier League 2025 on Wednesday, August 27. Playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 13th league match of the season, the 30 years old West Indies all-rounder turned the game into a spectacle with his explosive hitting against St Lucia Kings at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet.
Coming in to bat at number seven for the side led by Imran Tahir, Romario Shepherd unleashed his power and ended unbeaten on 73 runs from only 34 balls. His knock was filled with pure aggression as he struck five boundaries and launched seven towering sixes, leaving the opposition bowlers with no answers.
The highlight of his innings came in the 15th over bowled by Oshane Thomas. What followed was a sequence rarely seen in professional cricket. Oshane Thomas delivered a no-ball, giving Romario Shepherd a free hit. The right-hander cleared the ropes with ease but the bowler overstepped once again. With another free hit on offer, Romario Shepherd struck another six, only for Oshane Thomas to repeat the same mistake. On the third free hit in a row, Romario Shepherd smashed yet another maximum.
Incredibly, he scored 20 runs from just a single legal delivery in that over, a moment that left fans stunned and social media buzzing. Clips of the over quickly went viral, with supporters celebrating Romario Shepherd’s outrageous hitting.

Romario Shepherd is no stranger to such fireworks. Having already represented West Indies in 39 ODIs and 63 T20Is, he also caught attention earlier this year during the Indian Premier League.
Turning out for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he may not have had too many chances with the bat but still delivered a remarkable performance against Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 3. That night, he blasted a half-century in just 14 balls, the second fastest fifty ever in the IPL history.
The only man ahead of him in that record is India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal who reached fifty in just 13 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023.
With his clean hitting and ability to change the course of matches within minutes, Romario Shepherd has once again reminded the cricketing world of his immense value in the shorter formats.
