Aged 37, Sandeep has been doing the job of a rickshaw driver for more than 15 years. As far as his family is concerned, there are five members including him, i.e., his father, wife and two kids and they all live in a room of 10X10 ft.
Speaking of his amazing rickshaw, you’ll find a TV screen, payphone, Wi-Fi free of cost, updates of stock market along with weather and this all come with much generosity which is next to impossible for a rickshaw driver like him.
Daily in the morning, Sandeep keeps newspapers in the rickshaw to note down weather forecasting report as well as updates of stock market on a board.
Additionally, Bachche jots down birthday wishes for all the celebs who were born on that day but he never does it for political leaders because in his words, “When my mother was dying of cancer, I went to a lot of people for help, including some MLAs, and they didn’t give me any time.” He added, “I went to their offices many times then I got tired of it.”
There is a first-aid kit too in his auto and Sandeep keeps on changing cotton and medicines once in three months, regardless of the fact that they are not expired just for maintaining hygiene.
You can always find sagacious advice on his auto that grab the attention of customers and are worth paying heed. There are also two bottles of water out of which one is for travelers and the other for him. Not only this, customers are offered hot tea throughout the day, whereas kids are given candies.
However, most significantly, Sandeep’s exceptionally charitable and benevolent temperament is reflected by means of his auto. There is a donation box also and as a return gift for kind donation, one may take a candy. Whatever amount is collected with the donation is given to cancer victims. His kindness and generosity does not end here; Bachche also offers discounts to handicapped, old and newlywed customers.
Moreover, Sandeep gives a part of all the fares in donation; like he earns ₹800 to ₹1,000 daily and he puts away more than ₹50 for donation or feeding the poor.
He’s engaged in the charity work for about 11 years and now he has earned repute. To quote his words, “All sorts of people call me saying, ‘Munnabhai, please help.’ People getting some sort of medical treatment, people who have been injured, people who have come into bad luck. I help them all as much as I can.”
He has become much famous due to his charity and for the same; he is outlined in papers 28 times as well as has been on television 15 times.
Celebrities like Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap and Ranvir Shorey congratulated him personally. He is awarded several times for social work too.
Besides, he is a huge fan of Sanjay Dutt and likes to be called Munnabhai SSC.
In terms of future plans, he says, “I want my own house, with a letterbox and a nameplate outside.” Bachche adds, “And I want to make sure my son and daughter are educated. That’s my dream.”
