It’s an open secret now that director Rajkumar Hirani will be making a movie based on Sanjay Dutt’s life and the actor selected for playing the character of Sanju Baba is none other than the “Barfi” star Ranbir Kapoor. Most probably the shooting of the movie will start in January 2017.
Last week, David Dhawan, Rajkumar Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor were having a get-together at Sanjay Dutt’s house. Everybody was drunk except Ranbir and they were having discussion about the biopic.
As reported by DNA, Sanjay Dutt scolded Ranbir for doing movies like “Barfi” and it all started with Sanjay politely saying that he wanted to produce a movie for Ranbir, to which the young actor replied with a smile, “Of course”.
Sanjay further continued, “The film is called Laddoo.”
Ranbir couldn’t understand this satire and repeated the word in the tone of a question, to which Sanjay said,
“Yes, after that we will make films called Imarti, Jalebi and then Peda.”
There was a weird silence and then Sanjay burst out,
“I watched Barfi! on TV recently. What made you do a film like that? @#$^&* bloody hell, you are playing me in the Sanjay Dutt biopic. I don’t know how they cast you.”
He went on to say,
“You should be a macho man. Act in macho films. You can’t be doing films like Barfi! You should be holding guns and doing action films. Do you think actors like me, Salman and Ajay would have been around for so many years, if we had not played macho characters on screen? You have no connect with the masses and that is very important.”
The Khalnayak of Bollywood kept on speaking for a long duration, trying to make Ranbir understand the type of movies that he should do and how important single screen audience is for an actor’s career.
The young actor didn’t argue with Sanjay as he said it all under the influence of alcohol. However, we should not forget that with the changing times, the taste of audience has changed. All this came to an end when Manyata called everyone for dinner.
As reported, the atmosphere was eased when Biryani was served to everyone and both the actors hugged each other at the time of leaving. It is yet unclear whether Ranbir has taken the matter seriously or he is just letting it go.
