Sanju Samson’s Unique Protest Against Umpiring In IPL 2022 Leaves Twitter Talking

The umpiring in the ongoing IPL 2022 has been criticized a lot because some umpiring decisions have been termed as very poor by the cricketing experts and fans. In the match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders which was played yesterday at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, the RR skipper Sanju Samson showed his resentment against the umpiring by taking a DRS.

It all took place in the 19th over of the KKR innings when the team was chasing the target of 153. RR bowler Prasidh Krishna was bowling outside the off-stump as per the game plan to both the KKR left-handed batsmen Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana. Prasidh Krishna bowled the third delivery of the over full and wide outside the off-stump, Rinku Singh was not able to make a contact and the umpire Nitin Pandit gave it a wide which was not liked by Sanju Samson.

On the next delivery, Prasidh Krishna was hit for a four and then he bowled short and wide delivery to Rinku Singh who moved across to play it but didn’t manage to hit the ball. Surprisingly, Nitin Pandit gave this one also a wide which annoyed Sanju so much that he decided to protest by taking a DRS despite the fact that there was a huge gap between the bat and the ball.

Umpire Pandit asked Samson again whether he really wanted to go for DRS and the RR skipper replied in affirmative.

However, this drama continued till the last ball of the over as Prasidh Krishna once again went for a wide and this time, Nitish Rana was on the striker’s end. Sanju Samson was not at all happy with the umpire’s decision and he went to him for having a little chat about it.

As far as the match is concerned, the toss was won by KKR and it decided to bowl first. RR managed to put a small total of 152/5 with the help of Sanju Samson’s gritty innings of 54 runs (49 balls, 7 fours & 1 six). KKR successfully chased the target as Nitish Rana (48 runs not out, 37 balls, 3 fours & 2 sixes) and Rinku Singh (42 runs not out, 23 balls, 6 fours & 1 six) played some sensible cricket and took their team home as the winner. KKR won the match by 7 wickets with 5 balls remaining in its innings and Rinku Singh was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his superb knock.
