Padmavati got retitled as Padmaavat and even had to go through many changes, but the film has forever remained in the problems. Karni Sena has been providing a strong resistance against the release of film ever since its announcement.
The film was earlier supposed to release in Dec but got postponed due to continuous violence. It was later announced that film will release on 25th January with an appropriate disclaimer and content modification but still Karni Sena wanted a ban on the film.
The community has been issuing regular threats and said that if the film is released they will indulge in violent activities. Threats of Jauhar were also issued.
All these threats became a great headache for the government of many states and hence they issued a ban on the film.
Padmaavat makers thus took the case to Supreme Court. They appealed the apex court to lift the ban from the film and ensure that it gets a proper release.
Now as per reports, A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra restrained all the states from issuing notifications and orders prohibiting exhibition of the movie. The bench, also comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud observed that the states are obliged to maintain law and order.
As per Hindustan Times, the bench said in its interim order.-
“We direct that there shall be a stay of operation on the notification and orders issued and we also restrain other states from issuing such notifications or orders in this matter.”
