An initiative for a better tomorrow #ShameTheRapistCampaign run by extremely courageous Sunitha Krishnan has left the Supreme Court shocked when her lawyer informed the court about 90 shocking online rape footage received by her.
Sunitha Krishnan, a rape survivor launched #ShameTheRapistCampaign to help the rape victims to get justice and to help them speak up. This is a great initiative taken by her which might end up putting the criminals behind the bars.
Sunitha uploaded an edited version of gang rape in the beginning of February this month on YouTube to protest against the incidents of sexual assaults and molestations. The video uploaded was one of the nine videos, circulated as MMS. #ShameTheRapistCampaign asks its viewers to help identify the rapists.
In spite of the faces of the rapist being clear, no action was taken by the police and this made her appeal to the Supreme Court. On March 24th of this year, the first arrest was made by CBI, Subrat Sahu a Bhubaneshwar based builder accused of raping a woman and filming the heinous crime. A special bench in the court hearing social justice matters headed by Justice Madan B. Lokur left him shocked.
This not only keeps Sunitha’s hopes alive but also shows us A PATH TOWARDS A BETTER INDIA, A SAFER INDIA.
