Shane Bond, the former Kiwi pacer has also played an important role in the success of MI in view of the fact that he has served as their bowling coach for the last 9 seasons, this year he is going to be replaced by former Sri Lankan cricketer Lasith Malinga.
Over the years, Shane Bond developed a strong bond with the MI players and in an interview, he revealed the cuss word which was given to Ishan Kishan as a nickname by strength and conditioning coach Paul Chapman and it was given “out of love” by Paul.
Shane Bond says that he loves Ishan Kishan as he is a funny guy and he also loves the banter that he has with Ishan. He further says that Chappy (Paul Chapman) calls Ishan Kishan a di@&head but it is totally out of love and they still call him by this name. Shane is of the opinion that good friendships are made when they spend some time with the cricketers.
Shane Bond also praises the scouting system of Mumbai Indians as it has resulted in bringing talented players in the team. Shane also talks about two MI players, Akash Madhwal and Kumar Kartikeya who started as net bowlers and now they are part of the MI squad.
Shane Bond says that Akash and Kumar Kartikeya were net bowlers and it is just because of their performances that they have managed to get a place in the MI squad. Bond says that he loves the attitude of both the cricketers, while Kumar left his home at the young age of 16 to return only after achieving something in life, Akash is a smart cricketer and both the youngsters used the opportunity given to them to the maximum.
As of now, the whole country is gripped into the fever of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which is going to start from 5 October, hopefully Ishan Kishan will perform well in the upcoming mega tournament.
