She Won Miss Starlet 2015 Title Which Was Soon Revoked After Her Tweet About Fat & Ugly People - RVCJ Media

Yasmeen Munira recently won a competition organized by Singtel TV-Masti Showcase 2015 who was looking for a fresh face but her title was soon revoked within 12 hrs. because she made objectionable tweets in relation to fat and ugly Singaporeans.

In a tweet, she wrote, “Why is it so hard for fat people to understand that they should not occupy seats on the train?”

One more tweet said, “Singaporeans are so ugly…” in addition to “putting in a little bit of effort to look good won’t kill you.”

Well, she did not stop here and continued to tweet, “Just do everyone else a favour and like cab. You’d be like paying for two people anyway.”

After this all, Renuka Arora Bhagat, spokesperson for contest’s organizing board and managing partner of Radio Masti maintained that team had discussed concerning the matter and come to the decision of snatching the title from Yasmeen Munira and giving it to Ms Vijayalakshmi who earned the repute of first runner-up.

According to Renuka, comments tweeted by Yasmeen “go against our principles, and people have been hurt by them.” She added, “Her comments were not what we would have expected from someone at the forum yesterday.”

They were left with no other choice except to revoke her title.

Yasmeen posted in Facebook that she closed that account from which she made those comments. She told The Straits Times, “I am regretful for my actions on social media and, indeed, this is a painful lesson for me.” Further she said, “Our experiences shape us and teach us to be better people in life. I would like to put this episode behind me and move on.”
