Nowadays, almost every lead actor can be seen appearing on talk shows, comedy shows and in sitcoms too for promoting their upcoming movies while actors like Aamir Khan use unique ways for the promotions of their flicks, such as cutting hair of people in a particular style which he did to promote “Ghajini.”
However, a veteran and very famous TV actor and host, Shekhar Suman doesn’t like all these promotion gimmicks. Just recently, he made a comment on Shah Rukh Khan who travelled by train from Mumbai to Delhi, for promoting “Raees”.
The 54 years old actor said,
“Why people would see a movie? Just because an actor is travelling by train or they have seen the actor in the mall or in a comedy show.”
As per a report published in TOI, promotion of a movie is just a marketing gimmick and movies of superstars like SRK don’t need any publicity as he said,
“Earlier actors never used to go out to promote their films but still those films did good business at the box office. Take ‘DDLJ’ as an example, that film is still running despite zero promotion. Marketing gimmicks are merely ‘chochle’”.
There is no doubt that a lot of things have changed in Bollywood in past few years which have made promotions a necessity but we have to agree that Shekhar Suman has raised a valid point. What do you think about it? Share your views in the comments section below.
