In an old interview, Amitabh Bachchan himself opened up about this dark phase. He admitted that he was drowning in debt and had almost lost his own house and every asset linked to his company.
He shared that the phase was extremely humiliating for him. He had around 55 court cases filed against him and creditors would come to his door every single day asking for money, which was very embarrassing.
Because he urgently needed money to survive this financial crisis, he started accepting any film that came his way. During this time, he acted in the film Boom.
Boom (2003), directed by Kaizad Gustad, was considered a B-grade film. It also marked Katrina Kaif’s debut in Bollywood. The film was known for its bold scenes and was called an exploitative film. It turned out to be a huge flop at the box office.
But Big B did not give up. He made a stunning comeback with the film Mohabbatein. The film brought him back into the spotlight and started a new chapter in his career.
His real revival came when he started hosting the TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati. The show not only brought him closer to the audience again but also helped him clear his debts and regain his financial and professional stability.
