The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is not only one of the world’s most popular cricketers but is also counted among the fittest athletes of the globe. Though Virat has inspired many youngsters in every nook and corner of the planet, the former Pak cricketer Waqar Younis who is presently the bowling coach of the Pakistani team is of the opinion that Pak players need not copy the Indian captain.
Recently, Waqar accepts that Virat Kohli is one of the top athletes of the world but he also says that Pakistani cricketers are not far behind. He gives the examples of Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi and claims that they are super fit cricketers. He also mentions that the Pakistani team will not copy Virat; they will set their own bar and will focus on fitness in such a manner that it will suit the cricketers of his country and help in making the team strong for the future. Waqar Younis goes on to say that there are many fit cricketers as they play three formats and have to maintain their fitness as per the requirements.
Waqar has been slammed by some Indian cricketers for his statement; recently Manoj Tiwary criticized the Pakistani bowling coach and now Sheldon Jackson has also lashed out at Waqar Younis for his statement. Sheldon Jackson is an Indian cricketer who plays for Saurashtra in the domestic circuits while in the IPL, he has played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Sheldon has taken to the micro-blogging site Twitter and questioned Waqar whether it is so difficult to accept that Virat is among the fittest cricketers, even if he can’t accept that Virat is the fittest cricketer of present times. Sheldon further writes that Pakistan’s bars would be very high even if they could achieve even 50 percent of Virat’s fitness levels.
Here is what his tweet read, “Is it so hard to accept that Virat is among or if not the fittest cricketer at present, nothing wrong in accepting that. Even if 50% of his fitness standards achieved consider the bar to be set at pretty high standards”
