Crimes against women are not something new in India and despite many reforms, a lot is remaining to be done in order to curb such offenses. However, the most important reform that we have to bring in the Indian society is in the attitude of men who think of ladies as an object whom they can use anytime, anywhere at their own will.
Akash Gupta (23), a hardware trader, has been arrested by the Sonegaon police under the charges of molesting two air hostesses of Jet Airways, flight no. 9S24460.
The man, who is basically from MP’s Balaghat, went to Goa for a vacation and while returning on Saturday, he took Jet Airways Mumbai-Nagpur flight.
He perhaps had alcohol in Mumbai and during the flight, he grabbed two air hostesses’ hands at a time when they served him food. When the air hostesses informed their colleagues, the staff tried to stop him but Akash started arguing with them which compelled the staff to report the incident to the captain.
The two air hostesses have also submitted a complaint in written to the captain against the passenger who was travelling on seat no. 41E. The 42-yr captain of the flight, Gopalsingh Mohansingh, reported the incident to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and handed over Akash to them. Then, CISF contacted the Sonegaon cops and Akash was booked under IPC section 354. On Sunday, he was produced in the court and was sent for magisterial custody.
