The second ODI was played yesterday at Holkar Stadium, Indore and India won it by 99 runs after the target for Australia was revised from 400 to 317 due to rain. The Player of the Match was Shreyas Iyer who played a century knock of 105 runs and produced a 200-run partnership with young Indian cricketer Shubman Gill who also scored a century in that match.

Shreyas Iyer made a comeback in the Asia Cup 2023 after a long gap because of his injury but still there were some doubts regarding his fitness and he was also not able to play big innings whenever he was handed over a chance to play for the country.

However, yesterday Shreyas Iyer made the maximum use of the opportunity that he got while batting at number 3 in the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

During the post-match presentation, Shreyas Iyer is asked whether he will like to play at number 3 as he has a good record at that position. In response, he says that he is flexible and ready to bat at any position. He adds that Virat Kohli is one of the greats of the game and number 3 position is fixed for him and there is no chance of stealing that position from King Kohli.

Talking about the tough times that he went through in the last few months, he said that he had all the support of his teammates, family and friends in those difficult times. He added that he watched matches on TV hoping to take part soon, injuries and niggles will be keep coming but he never forgot what his aim is.

There is no doubt that Virat Kohli is the best option at number 3, what do you say?
