Virat Kohli is certainly one of the greatest cricketers of all times and it is highly difficult to exclude or drop him from the team until and unless he makes himself unavailable for selection. However, recently some reports got published which stated that Indian selectors are thinking of not selecting Virat Kohli for the T20 World Cup 2024 as he hasn’t played T20 internationals since the T20 World 2022.

What has made it more difficult for Virat Kohli is the fact that there is a huge pool of young power hitters who are knocking the doors of the Indian team strongly.

However, the Australian cricketer Steve Smith has supported Virat Kohli’s candidature as he feels that India will certainly need a player of Virat’s caliber in high pressure situations.

Steve Smith said in an interview that Virat Kohli plays as per the situation. He added that on some wickets, there is no need of having a high strike rate and a player has to play as per what is in front of him. Steve Smith went on to say that we all have seen Virat Kohli playing some masterclass innings whether for RCB or India and he has been on the opposition side when Virat Kohli has done this on various occasions against Australia.

The Australian cricketer further said that Virat Kohli plays well under pressure, in fact he loves to play under pressure and he is one of those few cricketers who have to be in the team when you are going to play in the World Cup. He added that Virat is certainly one of those experienced players whom a team wants to stand up in pressure situations.

Virat Kohli has been out of cricketing action as he was spending time with his family and he has also become father for the second time as his wife Anushka Sharma gave birth to a baby boy whom they have named as Akaay.
