Actor Suniel Shetty’s relationship with his wife Mana Shetty continues to stand as a testament to unconditional love and resilience. Their marriage, which dates back to 1991, didn’t come easy. In a recent podcast appearance, Suniel opened up about the emotional and cultural hurdles they faced, revealing that despite resistance from his parents and well-wishers, he had no doubts about wanting to marry Mana.
During the conversation, Suniel candidly admitted that Mana didn’t belong to his community, which led to his parents firmly opposing their union. He recalled being told outright that their marriage could not happen and that cultural differences would be too much to reconcile. But Mana never wavered. Suniel shared that her words to him were simple yet powerful: she would remain by his side for as long as he wanted her in his life.
That unwavering loyalty is what pushed Suniel to take the step and marry her when he signed his first film. Despite several people cautioning him against marrying at the onset of his acting career, warning that it could affect his appeal and fan following, Suniel trusted his instincts and chose love over public perception.
He added that Mana’s support was not tied to success. Even if he had failed professionally, he was certain she would have remained with him. However, he was equally clear that had he shown disrespect, lacked commitment or behaved wrongly, she would have walked away. According to him, Mana had always possessed immense self-respect, then and now.
Currently, Suniel Shetty is winning praise for his role in Hunter 2, now streaming on an OTT. In the gritty sequel, he reprises the character of ACP Vikram Sinha, who is thrust into a perilous mission to save his kidnapped daughter. The show pits him against a shadowy villain known as “The Salesman”, portrayed by Jackie Shroff. As the series unfolds, viewers are taken deeper into Vikram’s tormented past, exploring themes of pain, redemption and a father’s relentless love.
While Suniel continues to explore intense roles on screen, off-screen, his life with Mana Shetty remains an inspiring saga of love, commitment and mutual respect, one that has stood strong through decades of fame, struggle and change.
