Sunil Gavaskar Feels We May Not Get To See The Real Rishabh Pant In IPL 2024, Here’s Why

Little Master does make a point

The young Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant is going to make a comeback on the cricket field in the IPL 2024 as he will be back as the skipper of Delhi Capitals but if the reports are to be believed, he won’t be keeping the wickets despite being declared fit by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

On 30 December 2022, Rishabh Pant was going home when his car met with an accident as it collided with the road divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. Initially, he was admitted in a local hospital but later on, he was airlifted to Mumbai. His knee got damaged severely for which he had to undergo surgery and he missed many important tournaments as he was under rehabilitation.

The former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels that Rishabh Pant may be fully fit but it will take some time for him to get back to his old self. Little Master is of the opinion that it will be very difficult for Rishabh Pant, adding that the good thing is he has got some practice but still getting fluency in batting is a difficult thing.

Talking about Rishabh Pant’s knee injury, Sunil Gavaskar says that the knee injury will certainly affect his wicket-keeping ability but knee is very important in batting as well so in the beginning, we may not see the real Rishabh Pant that we are habitual of.

Sunil Gavaskar also talks about the ability of Rishabh Pant of getting into the opposition batter’s head without offending him and in the process, he also provides entertainment. Gavaskar states that having a wicketkeeper like him who keeps commenting from behind the stumps is really entertaining. Sunil Gavaskar adds that there are many other wicketkeepers who break the concentration of batters by saying various things but Rishabh Pant has the ability to say such things in a manner that even the person who is targeted ends up laughing and his focus gets affected for sure.

Sunil Gavaskar also talks about Shubman Gill and says that it will be interesting to see whether captaincy will affect his batting or not. After Hardik Pandya got traded to Mumbai Indians, the management of Gujarat Titans appointed Shubman Gill as the new skipper of the team.

The first match of the tournament will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 22 March at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
