T Natarajan Opens Up On Not Getting Selected In India’s T20 World Cup Squad

T Natarajan, the Indian cricketer, could have been a great asset for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup as he is known for bowling accurate Yorkers which may be of much help in the short format. However, the pacer failed to find a place in the 15-member Indian squad because he has been away from cricket for almost five months due to his knee injury.

Natarajan got his knee injured on the Australian tour where he went as a net bowler but made his debut for the country because many senior players were injured. His knee injury got serious during the first leg of the IPL 2021 and since then, he hasn’t played any cricket match.

The Indian chief selector Chetan Sharma revealed some time ago that T Natarajan’s name was discussed but because of his injury and his lack of game practice, the selectors chose not to include him in the team. In fact, Natarajan was also not expecting a call for the T20 World Cup as he was aware of the fact that he had not played any competitive cricket for more than five months so it was impossible for him to get a call. In an interview, the cricketer who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL says that he is not at all disappointed for not getting selected for T20WC.

Natarajan further adds that if the selection had taken place after the second leg of the IPL 2021, there would have been a chance of him to get a place in the squad. However, he also said that he hoped of going to the World Cup as a net bowler. He added that he was focusing on recovering from injury and playing the IPL and everything would happen on its own.

While T Natarajan was gearing up for today’s match of Sunrisers Hyderabad against Delhi Capitals, there is news that the cricketer has tested COVID-19 positive and he has isolated himself.

Talking about the position of SRH in the IPL 2021, it is at the bottom of the points table with 1 win and 6 losses in 7 matches that it has played and the team rarely has a chance of entering the play-offs.
