Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel is currently enjoying the success of her recently released movie “Gadar 2” which is the sequel of 2001 released “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha”. “Gadar 2” has shattered many records at the box-office; it has already earned more than Rs. 400 crore and is on the path to touch the Rs. 500 crore mark.
In “Gadar 2”, Ameesha Patel and Sunny Deol are back as Sakeena and Tara Singh, respectively and the audiences have showered them with love and affection in the same manner as they did in the year 2001.
Ameesha Patel made her Bollywood debut with “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai” in which she was starred opposite Hrithik Roshan and that was also a big hit at the box-office.
Recently, Ameesha Patel gave an interview in which she talked about a conversation that she had with the famous director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Ameesha said that after the success of “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha”, Sanjay Leela Bhansali sent her a beautiful letter praising her performance and later on when she met him, he told her to retire from movies.
Ameesha said that she was not able to understand what Bhansali wanted to convey so she asked him why he wanted her to retire. In response, Sanjay Leela Bhansali told her that she had already achieved so much with two movies which many people are not able to achieve in their entire career.
Bhansali said to her that movies like “Mother India”, “Mughal-e-Azam”, “Sholay”, “Pakeezah”, etc. are made once in a lifetime and her second movie is on the same lines so what is left there for her to achieve.
Ameesha said that she was a kid at that time because of which she was not able to understand what SLB said but later on, she got to understand it because all her hit movies such as “Humraaz”, “Honeymoon Travels”, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa”, etc. were compared with “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha”.
Ameesha further talked about her movie “Yeh Hai Jalwa” in which she worked with Salman Khan. She stated that it was one of the best movies of David Dhawan but it didn’t achieve the success that it deserved because of the hit-and-run case of Salman Khan which happened at that time.
