Whenever we think of a handbag, we think about the appearance and size of the handbag that we want to buy and what all we will be able to fit in that handbag and then we try to figure out whether we will get value for money if we pay the demanded price for the bag.
But what will you say if we tell you that there is a handbag which is smaller than the grain of sea salt? Recently MSCHF, an American art collective based in Brooklyn, New York, shared the image of Louis Vuitton bag which is so small that it can easily pass through the hole of the needle and a person needs a microscope in order to see the handbag.
MSCHF shared the image with caption, “Microscopic Handbag by MSCHF – Smaller than a grain of sea salt and narrow enough to pass through the eye of a needle, this is a purse so small you’ll need a microscope to see it. There are big handbags, normal handbags, and small handbags, but this is the final word in bag miniaturization. As a once-functional object like a handbag becomes smaller and smaller its object status becomes steadily more abstracted until it is purely a brand signifier.”
Soon their Instagram account was flooded with reactions, while some questioned the need of making such a bag, there were few who were talking about the price that the bag can demand in the auction and there were several others who treated it as a meme material.
