Since the list of Padma Awardees’ has been announced by the government, a lot of debate has been going on in regard to the actor Anupam Kher’s name being chosen for Padma Bhushan. While some are stating it as a wise decision, others are calling it a reward for supporting the government through his speeches on “intolerance” issue and leading the “tolerance” march in a protest against the “award wapsi” campaign.
While there was hue and cry for giving him the award, he sprayed salt on the wound of his haters with this tweet:
Sunn raha hoon hai aaj bazaar mein Burnol bahut zoro shoro se bik raha hai.
— Anupam Kher (@AnupamPKher) January 25, 2016
Nowadays, he is again in news for a statement that he made in an interview with Bhupendra Chaubey of CNN IBN; he said that he was scared of calling himself a Hindu.
Shashi Tharoor made a tweet on his statement:
Come on Anupam. I say it all the time. I'm a proud Hindu. Just not the Sangh's kind of Hindu. @AnupamPkher https://t.co/jLgKlYwL96

Anupam gave a quick reply:
Come on Shashi. Never thought you will misinterpret my statement like trolls do. And behave like a Congi Chamcha. https://t.co/SOD44ZPYvM
— Anupam Kher (@AnupamPKher) January 30, 2016
Labeling him as “Congi Chamcha” didn’t go well with Shashi Tharoor:
. Abuse, @AnupamPkher , is what you use when you run out of arguments. I'm a proud MP of @INCIndia &I don't resort to insults. #CongiChamcha
— Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) January 30, 2016
But Anupam was ready with his answer and made a logical point:
Sadly, you forgot that you brought in your Kind of Hindu & Sanghi Hindu first. You want to categorize that also? https://t.co/I1aBObn5BY

Twitter war ended here but it left us thinking how many types of Hindus are in India…….
