Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, known for his passion for cricket, celebrated India’s win through his Tumblr blog. Expressing pride in the team, AB senior took a subtle jibe at what he called “bias commentary” during the match. Without naming individuals, he commented, “Bias commentary के बावजूद, ठोक दिया Australia को cricket में” (Despite the bias commentary, team India thrashed Australia in cricket).

Jasprit Bumrah, the stand-in Indian skipper was instrumental in India’s win as he took eight wickets across the two innings and set the tone for India’s dominance. He was well supported by Mohammed Siraj & Washington Sundar who took three crucial wickets each. While the former captain Virat Kohli scored a pivotal century in the second innings, the youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal shone with another impressive ton, solidifying his position as a key player for India.

A couple of controversies also got erupted during the match, one of them was related to the former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar who is a part of the commentary panel for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Sanjay Manjrekar faced online backlash for allegedly downplaying the efforts of India’s medium pacers during the game. He referred to Indian cricketer Vinay Kumar while making a comment on Indian medium pacers and earned the wrath of not just fans but Vinay Kumar as well.
