In the IPL 2021, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a miserable outing and when there was no chance of the team making it to the play-offs, it gave chance to the young talent of its squad and it was then the pacer Umran Malik got noticed by everyone. SRH didn’t make the mistake of letting him go and retained him before the mega-auction of the IPL 2022. Umran Malik is capable of generating a lot of pace as in the IPL 2022, he is bowling at the speed of around 150 kmph and in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders, he made everyone from his teammates and support staff to the spectators dance with joy as he dismissed KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer with his unplayable Yorker.

What made every cricket fan happier was the manner in which the former South African pacer Dale Steyn celebrated the moment with excitement and joy. Dale Steyn is the fast bowling coach of SRH and recently, the head coach of SRH Tom Moody explained why Dale Steyn jumped up with joy as Umran Malik sent the KKR skipper back to dug-out.

Tom Moody said that a lot of planning is done for every opponent and the emotions shown in the dug-out were for the fact that their young bowler took a very important wicket for them. As per Tom Moody, there is no doubt that Umran Malik has been embraced by the team and the franchise both, everyone loves to see him bowling and he has done really well against the Kolkata team. He further says that Umran Malik has stuck to the plan and they are happy with the fact that they have been successful in making him understand what his role in the team is.

Tom Moody also feels that Umran Malik is very lucky that he is getting a chance to get trained by Dale Steyn as he can learn a lot from the former South African pacer. He further adds that the franchise understands if Umran Malik bowls at such a high pace, it is quite obvious that he will go for runs but he should keep scaring the batsmen with his pace.

Moody states that it is quite obvious he will go for runs if he bowls at the speed of around 150kmph but he is conceding majority of the runs from behind the wicket, it’s not that he is getting thrashed by the batsmen. The former Aussie cricketer goes on to say that they don’t mind Umran Malik going for runs but they want wickets in return.

As far as the match is concerned, the Hyderabad franchise won the toss and asked KKR to bat first. Batting first, KKR put up a score of 175/8 on the board with the help of Nitish Rana’s knock of 54 runs (36 balls, 6 fours & 2 sixes) and Andre Russell’s 49 not out (25 balls, 4 fours & 4 sixes).

In reply, SRH achieved the target in 17.5 overs with 7 wickets in hand with the help of brilliant knocks of Rahul Tripathi (71 runs, 37 balls, 4 fours & 6 sixes) and Aiden Markram (68 not out, 36 balls, 6 fours & 4 sixes). While Rahul Tripathi was adjudged as the player of the match, Umran Malik was also excellent with ball (2/27 in 4 overs).

Umran Malik will certainly make it to the national team, what do you say?
