Salman Khan fans are all happy as their favorite star has got a clean chit from both the poaching cases. On Monday, the Rajasthan High Court gave the decision in favor of Salman Khan and acquitted him from both the Chinkara and blackbuck poaching cases.
The court gave the decision that pellets weren’t fired from Salman’s gun and moreover, no other weapon was recovered. Further the prosecution case became weak since the driver of that gypsy, Harish Dulani, was missing since the time of accident. However, when the incident had occured, Dulani had given the statement “Salman Khan was not only driving the gypsy, he was also shooting the deer. He even got off to slit the neck of the deer and then drove the car again.”.
However, this statement given by Harish didn’t make it to the trial since he was considered to be an unreliable witness, as according to him Salman was multi-tasking. Since then, Harish is missing.
During the trials by the lawyers, Harish didn’t turn up at all. Now, the driver was the only witness for prosecutors, but since 2002, he was nowhere to be found. It was due to his absence that Salman’s case had collapsed.
Finally, Dulani has been found and when asked about his statement in an interview with NDTV, Harish stated that
“I stick to the statement I made before a magistrate 18 years ago. I am not an absconder. My father received threats, I got scared and left home. If I had police protection, I could have given a statement.”
He further said that he can go to the court and be a witness for the 3rd case which is still pending, but he fears to do since his life is in danger and hence, needs protection. Harish says that he and his family had been receiving death threats and for this reason, they had to hide.
Further, Gulab Chand Kataria, the Home Minister of Rajasthan stated “We will send somebody to contact him and if he says he needs security, we will provide him protection.”
