US Based Brewing Company Selling Gandhi Beer With Mahatma Gandhi Image

A US based brewing company is selling a beer named after the “Father of Nation” Mahatma Gandhi. Upset with this move the Indo-American have demanded to withdraw “Gandhi” beer, as it is a clear show of disrespect towards the Indian freedom Fighter.

Woodridge (Connecticut, USA) the company that produces the beer named Gandhi-Bot launched it in 2003 and claims to be among the best brewing company. Furthermore, it is the second company in the entire East Coast to sell beer in can.

It is really demeaning to sell alcohol after the name of the person who is an idol in a country and preacher of “No alcohol”, especially when “Dry day” is observed throughout India. The chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, Zed said “Using the image of Gandhi insults the trivialization of Gandhian principles and belittle the Indo-American community and Indians on the whole.”

What is more disturbing is the fact that, the Beer Company uses the image of Gandhi as well in the can with one hand raised as in blessing. The drink has been described by the brewer website as “an intensely hopped double India pale ale with a blend of three varieties of American Hops. Aromatic and fully vegetarian, Gandhi-Bot is an ideal aid for self-purification and the seeking of truth and love.”

Isn’t this a case of insulting the other nation?
