The Viral Fever CEO Arunabh Kumar In Trouble, Sued By His Former IIT Friend

The Online Sensation TVF – The Viral Fever has made its name with various web series and some hilarious out of the box qtiyapa. The recent addition to their hit series was TVF Pitchers which made its name in IMDB’s Top 250 TV Series ranking at 21st spot.

But it looks like The Yogi from TVF Pitchers aka Arunabh Kumar the co-founder of TVF is in a legal battle which might also provide some material to make another hit series.

According to sources, Arunabh Kumar has been sued by his former friend and fellow alumnus from IIT Kharagpur Prashant Raj, who demands 4 percent equity as well as cash for his share of work in TVF. Bombay High Court where Arunabh has been sued, has ruled out that Prashant Raj is only entitled for compensation from cash as his demand for equity is not justified.

Experts on this matter say that, the demand of equity is not justified as an idea scribbled on a notebook or paper napkins at college canteens are just worthless unless its terms and workings are clearly set on legal documents.

To be mentioned, the business started in 2011 which was incorporated as sole proprietorship. Next year in 2012, Prashant Raj joined TVF and left in March 2014 after some dispute with Kumar. In late 2014, the business was incorporated as TVF Media Labs. Raj’s argument is that he joined the company as Co-founder and worked without a salary in preference of equity in the business.

Apparently, Raj’s claim was done orally but he says he have proof of agreement in email exchanges.

On the other hand, Vinduprakash Pandey the lawyer of TVF CEO Arunabh Kumar says that, Raj was an early employee and since there was no legal agreement. Hence he is not eligible for equity.

Prakash Raj has appealed against the order seeking for a review. His legal counsel Sushrut Desai says that the compensation for my client is yet to be decided and we want 4 percent equity in the company besides the monetary compensation.
