Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, now considered as one of India’s most admired power couples, have built a life full of love, respect and shared parenting values. Recently settling in London to raise their children, the two continue to inspire fans with their journey. However, the beginning of their story was far from the seamless fairy tale it appears today.
Their first meeting, during a commercial shoot, was filled with nervousness and a misunderstanding that only added to the initial awkwardness. Speaking during a 2019 interview, Virat revealed that he felt extremely anxious before meeting Anushka. He had been warned that she might be taller than him and was even advised to subtly suggest she avoid wearing high heels.
Remembering that moment, Virat shared that although Anushka wore shoes with a small heel, she still appeared taller, which made him even more self-conscious. Hoping to ease the tension, he attempted a light-hearted comment that unfortunately did not land well. He mentioned feeling nervous and in an attempt to break the ice, he joked about her choice of heels and asked her why she didn’t wear high heels. However, Anushka responded with a polite but firm “Excuse me?”, leaving Virat immediately aware of his misstep. He tried to laugh it off but admitted feeling like an idiot.
Despite the rocky start, their relationship blossomed beautifully. In December 2017, Virat and Anushka tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Italy, choosing to celebrate their love quietly with only close family and friends. Their family grew with the birth of their daughter Vamika in January 2021, followed by the arrival of their son Akaay in 2024. Today, the couple balances life between Mumbai and London, continuing to share glimpses of their personal and professional journeys with their fans.
