Shikhar Dhawan made a comeback in the side in the England ODI series which India won by 2-1, however the left-handed batsman wasn’t able to make any impact with his bat. But in the series against West Indies, Gabbar as his fans call him scored two fifties. Shikhar Dhawan led the side because the regular skipper Rohit Sharma was rested for the ODI series and his deputy KL Rahul is not a part of the squad because of injury.

After the Indian squad defeated West Indies in the rain affected third ODI, the coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Shikhar Dhawan addressed the teammates and the support staff but what caught everyone’s attention the most was Dhawan’s act in the end.

Shikhar Dhawan certainly knows how to lighten the mood; if you remember, he started the tour with #heytrend and in the end of the series, he made the whole unit shout, “Who are we? Champions”. What made the end special was the manner in which Shikhar Dhawan requested the whole unit to come together including Rohit Sharma who has joined the squad for the T20I series as Dhawan can be heard saying, “Rohit aa naa” (Come Rohit..).

Earlier Rahul Dravid lauded the team for the terrific performances especially under pressure and he was happy more because this was a young side, relatively less experienced and many players who played in England didn’t play in West Indies. Rahul Dravid said that the manner in which this young team performed is a great sign for the Indian cricket and he also appreciated Shikhar Dhawan for his good captaincy.

After the speech of Rahul Dravid, it was Shikhar Dhawan’s turn to address the team and he started by thanking the support staff and team members for helping them and he admired the batting unit and the bowling unit as well for their performances. He added that the guys played as per the plan was discussed in the beginning and ensured that this is a process-oriented team. Shikhar Dhawan tells the cricketers that they are young, they have started taking big steps and he is sure that they will go a long way.
