The Indian cricket team has performed superbly on the West Indies tour and Rohit Sharma has proved himself a good skipper once again by leading his team to 3-0 and 4-1 win in the 3-match ODI series and 5-match T20I series, respectively but his real test will be in the Asia Cup 2022 which is going to start from August 27.
Though the tournament is being hosted by Sri Lanka, matches will be played in UAE. The selectors have also announced the Indian squad for the Asia Cup and many cricket fans are quite upset with few decisions of the selectors.
The Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have not been included in the squad because of their injuries and the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli along with KL Rahul will be making a comeback in the team. While KL Rahul has been away from cricket for quite some time now because of injury, Virat Kohli was rested for the West Indies tour by the selectors. The decision has left many Indian cricket fans annoyed and disappointed as Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson have been dropped from the team.
Questions have been raised on the selection of KL Rahul because he hasn’t played any cricket for some time now and the decision of including him in the team for an important tournament has not gone well with many cricket lovers. On the other hand, fans of Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are slamming the selectors because they feel that by selecting Virat Kohli, they have once again preferred reputation over form.
Some fans are also claiming that Deepak Hooda may have been selected in the team but he won’t be able to play because he will sit out in order to make way for Virat Kohli as it happened in the past.
Sanju Samson has been in good form and he impressed everyone with his performances whether it is his batting or his wicketkeeping. He led the IPL team Rajasthan Royals in the finals of the IPL 2022 and he was the second skipper of RR to do so. The 27 years old has some unreal fan base as he was given a big roar from the crowd in Florida.
Here is the tweet of BCCI in which the board announced the team for the Asia Cup:
🚨#TeamIndia squad for Asia Cup 2022 – Rohit Sharma (Capt ), KL Rahul (VC), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, R Pant (wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya, R Jadeja, R Ashwin, Y Chahal, R Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan.

The micro-blogging site Twitter was flooded with reactions; check out some of the selected ones:
From ball one it looked like Ishan Kishan is batting with selection playing in his mind. BCCI must share the blame. Giving one match at start of series in Eng and last match in WI .That's exactly not how you give confidence to a player, after that he grabbed his all opportunity.

No Ishan Kishan or Sanju Samson in the Indian squad is v surprising. India have gone with reputation over form once again. Virat Kohli could be in the side over Deepak Hooda, which again, proves India won't be going with their strongest XI on paper. #AsiaCup2022

I was surprised to see Ishan Kishan dropped as a backup opener. He was the most consistent of the newcomers. Deepak Huda's part-time bowling is perhaps the turning point for the selectors.#indiasquad #AsiaCup2022
