The Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav played an important role in India’s win as he took 3 important wickets because of which Sri Lanka could post only 215 runs in 39.4 overs. Kuldeep was brought into attack in the 17th over when Kusal Mendis (34 runs, 34 balls, 3 fours & 1 six) and debutant Nuwanidu Fernando (50 runs, 63 balls, 6 fours) were playing pretty well and they had stitched 73-run partnership for the third wicket. Kuldeep Yadav broke the partnership by taking wicket of Kusal Mendis and after that, he dismissed last match century scorer and Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka (2 runs) which was certainly a big wicket. He also sent Charith Asalanka (15 runs, 21 balls, 1 four) back to the pavilion and the Sri Lankan team which was marching towards a big score as it had scored 102/1 by the 17th over was reeling at 126/6 in the 25th over.

The social media users started praising Kuldeep Yadav for his superb performance in the match but there were some who were asking him not to perform so well otherwise he would get dropped. Kuldeep Yadav hasn’t been getting enough chances for quite some time now despite the fact that he has played well whenever he has got the chance to prove his worth. The biggest shock for everyone was when he was dropped from the Indian squad for the second test match against Bangladesh even when he was the Player of the Match in the first test match and Kuldeep Yadav was adjudged as the Player of the Match in the second ODI as well.

Considering this, Twitter users’ suggestion asking Kuldeep to perform average seems correct because the better he plays, the more the chances of him getting dropped from the next match. Here are some selected reactions:

As far as the match is concerned, the toss was won by the visitors and they put up a score of 215 on the score board as the whole team got out in the 40th over.

In response, the Indian squad chased the target successfully in 44 overs with 4 wickets in hand and the highest scorer for team India was KL Rahul who scored 64 runs not out (103 balls, 6 fours).

Will Kuldeep Yadav play in the 3rd ODI which will be played on 15th Jan at Greenfield International Stadium, Trivandrum? What do you think? Let us know your opinion.
