What Women Team Did After Defeat In ICC WWC Finals Will Bring Tears In Your Eyes

The Indian women cricket team performed superbly in the recently concluded ICC Women World Cup and even though they played the finals, they unfortunately lost it.

England won the World Cup after defeating India by 9 runs in the finals which was played at Lord’s cricket ground, England. However, this defeat doesn’t undermine the efforts and achievements of Indian women players and the best part is that the entire country is supporting them and showering their love on the team.

For the senior players, such as captain Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, this was the last chance to lift the cup but they will always be remembered for making the world aware of capabilities of the women team. A lot is expected from young players like Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Veda Krishnamurthy and others in the future, as they have already proved their talent and capabilities.

Harmanpreet who scored 171 runs in the semi-finals against Australia spoke about the environment of the dressing room after defeat in the finals. It was definitely a very emotional moment and the players couldn’t control their tears as they just missed this big chance with a very less margin. In her words,

“We were all crying after the match. Even those assisting our team were crying. We all contributed with some speeches and messages. But then our support staff said nobody will cry when we reach the hotel. We then celebrated by eating dinner together. I’m really proud of my team because this has been my best moment and this is the best cricket we have played. Now, it’s like we lost enough, now we just want to keep winning.”

The girl from Moga has made it clear that it really doesn’t matter from which state or city you belong to, as she says,

“Which city you are from doesn’t matter, what matters is what your thinking is. A dream has come true, a dream to play good cricket. Proud that we have made our country’s flag fly high.”

We completely agree with Harmanpreet and offer our best wishes to her and the whole team for the future tournaments.
