Police in Janakpur, Koriya district which comes in North Chhattisgarh has arrested a goat and its owner, as the goat has damaged a magistrate’s garden. On Monday, police booked the owner Abdul Hassan under various sections of IPC because his pet goat ate plants of the magistrate’s garden.

RS Paikra, in charge of Janakpur police station, told HT that the gardener of magistrate made a complaint against Abdul after which the FIR was registered. Abdul has been booked under section 427 which deals with committing mischief and causing damage to the amount of Rs. 50 or more and section 447 which deals with committing criminal trespass.

RS Paikra stated, “Bail has been granted to Hassan who was produced before the court on Tuesday for being a repeat offender.”

In the words of a police official, “As the incident was connected with the magistrate HK Ratre so it can’t be ignored. The goat for the first time ventured into the garden on February 6 and again on Monday, which apparently didn’t go to the liking of the magistrate.”

Abdul was warned earlier also as RS Paikra told, “But he appeared reckless and a repeat offender. Both Hassan and goat were detained on Monday after the FIR was lodged.” Abdul asked for forgiveness for what his goat did, “I was unaware about it and feel sorry.”

Social media also put forward their opinions and almost all netizens were feeling sorry for the goat. One tweet read, “The goat is ignorant about the Indian laws. We pray it would be pardoned by the judge. When any powerful officer feels offended, the police acts differently, Jai Ho.”
