At the end of this article you may call me a pessimist person, but I would gladly accept the word – Critical Thinker. Every year we celebrate the day 31st December with a lot of enthusiasm and charm by making new promises to ourselves and wishing every single person on our Whatsapp contact list by saying – HAPPY NEW YEAR.
However, if we look closely into the matter, there is nothing new and happy in the year that we are looking forward apart from few sparkling moments that we will experience which eventually stand nowhere near to the atrocities caused to millions every single day.
So here I am listing out some of the things that aren’t happy and new about the year 2017.
1. Terrorism.
There are still thousands of innocent people dying in Syria because of the terrorism prevailing in the country along with the friction between the Government and the rebellion groups. Still feel the need to say ‘HAPPY’ new year ?
2. Violence Against Women
Just have a look at the 2nd page of tomorrow’s newspaper and you will get the clear idea about what I am trying to portray. No matter in which advanced century we dive in, violence against women won’t stop with the passage of time but by the development of our maturity.
3. Corruption And Black Money.
The rich will keep on becoming richer by crushing down the ordinary taxpaying citizens of our country. Black Money might have reduced to some SMALL extent due to demonetization, but the reason of its production is still there at large – CORRUPTION, and even in the year 2017, it doesn’t seem to stop.
4. Discrimination.
Yes, even in the year 2017 it is still there. Now I am not acting as a lawyer for the minorities, but discrimination shown against them is just purely insane. Every year we hear thousands of cases where innocent children/men/women are beaten to death just because they belong to DIFFERENT caste ( that can include minority as well as majority)
5. Illiteracy.
This is perhaps the root cause of all the problems. The lack of education in a person’s life draws him to all the unethical and unwanted bad entities of this physical world that eventually makes him choose the path of violence to survive in this world.
6. Poverty.
No matter how many schemes you put in, programs you launch, people are still suffering in poverty that is hindering their way towards their dreams. It is still happening in the year 2017.
7. Malnutrition.
While you were complaining about the bad taste of fries in your new year’s eve party, thousands of children under the age of 10 died due to malnutrition.
So in short, nothing has changed. Things are going just like that where there is no good reason to be HAPPY about it. The only NEW thing that we are discovering is the high rise of occurrence of such events. I am really sorry for making you read this article on the very 1st day of your NEW YEAR, but it is very important for each and every one of us to understand the gravity of the situation we are dealing with.
