No matter how much talented you are, your worth in Bollywood is always judged according to the beauty. Though beauty is a subjective thing, the filmmakers often tell actresses to go through plastic surgeries, botox treatments to achieve the so-called perfect look.
In Bollywood, there are a lot of heroines who have gone through lip job, nose job and stuff like that and there are many who have rejected the suggestions like these. Deepika Padukone is one actress, who was also suggested to go through a b**b job in her initial days and guess what, she rejected it.
In a recent interview with Evening Standard, Deepika was asked about the climate in Bollywood in the wake of the Me Too and Time’s Up campaigns that changed the industry abroad. Talking about it, she told-
“There’s so much more awareness. There are so many people who speak up and I think in the same way that we see the wheels moving in the right direction globally, I see the same thing happening in India as well.”
She further talked about pressures in her initial days-
“There were lots of things I was advised (to do). To get a b**b job, do the beauty pageants. They felt it was the right way to be recognised or picked up by a Bollywood director or producer. It might be an easier way to achieve what you want to achieve. But I haven’t been that person; I’ve always followed my gut.”
