The Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has certainly stood out in the recently concluded 3-match ODI series as he was adjudged as the Player of the Series for his stupendous performance in all the three ODIs.
There is no doubt that Ishan Kishan was brilliant in the test matches as well. In the first test match, he may have scored only one run but he was pretty good behind the wickets. In the second test match, he scored 25 runs in the first innings and quick 52 runs in the second innings.
However, Ishan Kishan’s performance in the ODIs was at the next level as he smashed fifties in all the three ODIs and became the sixth Indian cricketer after Kris Srikkanth, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mohd. Azharduddin, MS Dhoni and Shreyas Iyer to achieve this feat in a 3-match ODI series.
But surprisingly, the young wicketkeeper-batter was not happy with his performance. After the match, he said that he is not happy with the finishing that he gave because his seniors told him that he should have got a big score after he was set so well in the match. He added that from the next time, he will try to play big innings. Ishan Kishan scored 77 runs in the third ODI and he was the highest scorer for India in this series with a total of 184 runs.
In the third ODI, India posted a total of 351/5 and registered a big win by 200 runs as the hosts could manage only 151/5 before getting all out.
With this performance, Ishan Kishan has proved that he is a strong candidate for getting place in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup 2023 and it will be difficult for the selectors as most probably KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will also return before the start of the Asia Cup 2023.
