Fans of Mumbai Indians are quite upset with the team management because they have removed Rohit Sharma from the captaincy and appointed Hardik Pandya as the new skipper of the team.
MI has won five IPL trophies under the leadership of Rohit Sharma and he holds the title of the most successful skipper of the IPL jointly with MS Dhoni. Hardik Pandya was the skipper of Gujarat Titans for the last two seasons and he performed pretty well as GT won the IPL trophy in its debut season and in the second season, it was the runner-up.
However, MI gave a surprise to their fans by trading Hardik Pandya from GT and after some time, MI also announced him as the new skipper of the team which didn’t go well with MI fans and they slammed the management left and right.
In a podcast, the coach of MI, Mark Boucher tried to explain why they appointed Hardik Pandya as the skipper. He said that MI is going through a transition phase and the decision of making Hardik the skipper is a cricketing decision. He further said that fans should understand it rather than getting emotional and upset about it.
Mark Boucher also said that Rohit Sharma is a great skipper who led MI and India as well and he had a couple of bad seasons with bat so the whole MI group feels that he should be given a chance to play as a player and enjoy the IPL without extra responsibilities.
Though Mark Boucher tried his best to explain his point and also requested fans to understand the point of view of the management yet the reaction to this video clip from Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh has increased MI’s problems to a great extent.
