Currently, Aamir Khan is filming “Sitaare Zameen Par”, a spiritual sequel to his 2007 classic “Taare Zameen Par”. The new film stars Darsheel Safary and Genelia Deshmukh in important roles and in a recent interview in which Aamir appeared with ex-wife Kiran Rao, he shared insights into this upcoming project, describing it as a humorous take on similar themes explored in the original film.

Aamir said that while “Taare Zameen Par” made people cry as it was an emotional movie, the upcoming flick “Sitaare Zameen Par” will make people laugh instead.

He added that despite sharing thematic similarities—focusing on people with different abilities and challenges—the new film offers a contrasting emotional tone through humor rather than sentimentality.

The 59 years old actor elaborated on the narrative shift in “Sitaare Zameen Par” and said that in many ways, this movie has gone further than “Taare Zameen Par”. He added that in the first movie, his character which is normal helps a boy in dealing with his challenge but in the upcoming movie, he plays a normal character who is helped by ten people with challenges. Aamir called this change a “real flip” from the previous storyline, adding depth and new perspectives to the narrative.

“Sitare Zameen Par” was announced in 2023 and is directed by RS Prasanna, with Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao producing. It is based on the Spanish film “Champions” and is slated for a theatrical release on December 25, coinciding with Christmas.
