Paresh Rawal’s recent announcement of stepping away from “Hera Pheri 3”, despite previously being confirmed alongside Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, has left fans stunned. This sudden departure has sparked widespread speculation, but it’s not the first instance where Paresh Rawal has opted out of a high-profile project involving Akshay Kumar.
His earlier withdrawal from “OMG 2”, the sequel to the critically and commercially acclaimed “OMG! Oh My God” (2012), was similarly surprising. While Pankaj Tripathi eventually took over the lead in the 2023 sequel, Paresh Rawal’s absence was noticeable, considering the central role he played in the original film.
Paresh Rawal previously addressed his decision during an interview, stating that he did not appreciate the script for the sequel and therefore chose not to participate. He emphasised that creating a sequel should go beyond cashing in on the success of the original, referring directly to the example of “Hera Pheri”.
However, contrasting narratives have emerged about the reasons behind his exits. An entertainment portal reported that Paresh Rawal had initially been in talks for “OMG 2” but allegedly demanded compensation above his market rate, considering his contribution to the success of the first film. The makers, however, were concerned that such a demand would push the budget beyond its limits.
Similarly, IANS reported that Paresh Rawal’s departure from “Hera Pheri 3” may also have stemmed from financial disagreements. According to their sources, the actor had already signed the contract, accepted the signing fee, which was reportedly higher than his usual rate, and even participated in crucial project discussions. But later, he is said to have requested an additional payment, which ultimately resulted in his exit from the movie.
These repeated walkouts have triggered discussion around the underlying tensions, creative and financial, that may be influencing Paresh Rawal’s decisions, especially in projects with significant public and nostalgic value. Whether it is dissatisfaction with the script or expectations of higher remuneration, the veteran actor’s choices continue to make waves in the industry and among fans alike.
