Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s mischievous streak is widely known in the film industry, with his love for on-set pranks becoming almost as famous as his action stunts. Over the years, countless co-stars have shared amusing stories about how he keeps everyone on their toes. But perhaps the most unforgettable tale comes from none other than Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan who had his own hilarious experience with the prankster.
Back in 2005, while promoting their film Waqt: The Race Against Time, Amitabh Bachchan playfully spilled the beans in an interview with an online portal. He described Akshay as a talented actor but also labeled him as a “shrewd rascal” with a mischievous talent for sleight of hand.
With laughter, Big B recalled that when anyone shook hands with Akshay, they would often discover their rings or watches mysteriously missing. Such was his skill at trickery that the entire crew learned to stash away their valuables from wristwatches to necklaces, before stepping onto the set.
Amitabh Bachchan added that Akshay Kumar’s jovial, carefree personality made every shoot memorable, filled with light moments and endless laughter.
Their film Waqt was more than just a comedy, it was a heartfelt family drama that struck an emotional chord with audiences. Directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the movie explored the complex relationship between a stern father and his carefree son, played by Amitabh and Akshay respectively. With strong performances by Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani and Shefali Shah, the film weaved together humour, emotion and music to deliver a timeless story about responsibility and legacy.
Akshay and Amitabh have formed a memorable duo on-screen, starting with Ek Rishtaa in 2001 where also they portrayed a father-son relationship. Their collaboration continued with the heist thriller Aankhen in 2002, the cop drama Khakee in 2004, and the intense action film Family in 2006. Fans have consistently admired their chemistry, especially when their characters clash or share emotional screen time.
Currently, Amitabh Bachchan is occupied with filming the 17th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, keeping his legacy on television strong. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is juggling multiple exciting projects. His next appearance will be in Bhooth Bangla, a horror-comedy directed by Priyadarshan, co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi and Paresh Rawal. He is also finally set to reunite with Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal in the long-awaited Hera Pheri 3 which is finally back on track after prolonged delays and controversy.
Even as the two stars move forward in their illustrious careers, it’s the behind-the-scenes stories, like Akshay Kumar’s cheeky antics with Big B, which fans will always cherish.
