The day that was meant to mark a joyful milestone for Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and singer Palaash Muchhal took an unexpected turn. Just hours before their planned wedding on November 23, the families announced that the ceremony would be postponed indefinitely. What was meant to be a moment of celebration quickly shifted into a moment of concern when Smriti’s father faced a sudden health emergency.
As the families focused on his condition, the Internet veered in a different direction. Social media erupted with theories and old photos connected to Palaash began circulating widely. Among them was a picture of him kneeling in what looked like a grand proposal setup with a former partner. People online claimed that the woman in the photo was Birva Shah, a plastic surgeon, and that the image dated back to 2017. None of these details have been officially verified, yet that hasn’t stopped the speculation.

Online buzz grew louder because Palaash is believed to have started dating Smriti in 2019 after meeting her through mutual friends and the two made their relationship public only last year. As rumours swirled, fans noticed another detail — Smriti had quietly removed her engagement announcement video from Instagram.
The reel featuring teammates Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy had gone viral, especially because Smriti revealed her engagement ring at the end. It is now being suggested that her teammates have taken down the reel from their profiles too.
These actions added more fuel to the online chatter. Users on X expressed concern, with some suggesting that such a post would only disappear if something significant had happened. Others sent messages of support, hoping Smriti would find peace amid the noise.
Meanwhile, reports confirmed that Smriti’s father Shrinivas Mandhana had shown heart attack-like symptoms on the morning of the wedding. He was immediately admitted to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli, leading the families to halt all preparations.
The situation also deeply affected Palaash. His mother said that he shared a close bond with Smriti’s father and that the sudden medical emergency left him distraught. She said he became so emotional that his own health declined, prompting doctors to keep him under observation for several hours and administer tests and an IV drip. Though his reports came back normal, she noted that he remains under immense stress.
For now, neither Smriti nor Palaash has addressed the swirling rumours. Both the families appear focused on recovery and well-being rather than speculation, hoping for calmer days ahead.
