Cricket fever reached new heights in 2025, with fans across the world glued to screens, scorecards and search engines. From thrilling finishes to unexpected twists, the year delivered non-stop action, especially in the IPL. As supporters followed every update, searches revealed which teams truly captured public attention. Interestingly, four IPL franchises made it to the top 10 most searched teams of the year, showing how performance, star players and storylines combined to keep fans talking.
Here’s a closer look at the four IPL teams that ruled online searches in 2025.
1. Punjab Kings (Ranked 4th):

Punjab Kings stood out as the most searched IPL team of 2025, ranking fourth overall among global sports teams. Under Shreyas Iyer, PBKS delivered a memorable season, reaching their first IPL final since 2014. Though they fell short against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final, their unexpected run reignited fan passion and made them one of the most talked about teams of the year.
2. Delhi Capitals (Ranked 5th):
Delhi Capitals finished fifth on the search rankings, reflecting a season full of promise and frustration. Under Axar Patel’s captaincy, the team started strong, winning their first four matches and emerging as early favourites. However, momentum faded as the tournament progressed. With only three wins in their last nine completed matches, Delhi missed out on the playoffs but their early dominance ensured fans stayed engaged till the end.
3. Gujarat Titans (Ranked 6th):
Gujarat Titans claimed the sixth spot after bouncing back strongly from a disappointing previous year. Led by Shubman Gill, the team found rhythm early and won nine out of their 14 league games. Their consistent performances helped them secure a playoff spot comfortably. Although their journey ended with a loss to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator, standout individual performances and Shubman Gill’s calm leadership played a big role in keeping the Titans among the most searched teams.
4. Lucknow Super Giants (Ranked 7th):
Lucknow Super Giants secured the seventh spot, proving once again that new teams can quickly build strong fan interest. Much of the buzz came after the franchise made headlines by signing Rishabh Pant for a record ₹27 crore at the mega auction and naming him captain. Expectations soared but the season turned out to be a mixed bag. LSG showed flashes of brilliance but struggled with consistency, finishing seventh on the points table with six wins and eight losses from 14 matches. Even so, Rishabh Pant’s leadership and the team’s highs and lows kept fans closely invested throughout the season.
Together, these teams showed that in 2025, IPL success wasn’t just about trophies — it was about moments that kept fans searching, watching and believing.
